Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves inserting very fine needles at precise points to unblock the obstructions and reestablish the regular flow of qi through channels known as meridians (energy channels that run through the body).
According to Chinese medicine, every organ has a corresponding set of channels or meridians. The acupuncture points are located in small depression in the skin called “gates” where the channels come closest to the surface. With acupuncture, the gates of the body are opened and closed to adjust circulation in the channels and expel noxious influences from them.
The most common conditions for which acupuncture can provide relief include:
Acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain (back, neck, joints, etc.)Infertility problemsMenstrual cramps and other menstrual disorders, headaches, weight management, stress and anxiety, general well-being, low functioning immune system, chronic sinus infectionFacial rejuvenationLow energy
